September 1st from 11:30am-3pm there will be live music, giveaways, food, and fun for all the skaters that have been or soon will be enjoying the new skate park that has been completed in Hideaway Park. Check it out no matter what your age of ability because it’s a great set-up and if the little ones don’t happen to ride a skateboard there’s a playground 50ft away.
Tuesday August 28th make sure to stop by Smokin’ Moes around 9pm to witness the man who got the Grand County Blues Society up and rolling. This veteran bluesman will be playing great blues and rock tunes all night long and you won’t be able to stop yourself from getting up to dance. There is a 10 dollar cover charge, but seeing this great artist in action is well worth the price and it will be going to a great cause, benefiting the GCBS Blue Star Connection
This Monday and every Monday at Cooper Creek Square the Mountain Grind Coffee and Bistro is sponsoring an Open Mic Night from 7-9pm. Anything goes whether your talent is story telling, comedy, performance art, poetry, or music. There will be 2 for 1 drinks and other prizes for the best act. This Saturday is the last rodeo of the summer and it’s going to be a good time so make sure that you go. To start off the night there will be a BBQ from 4-6pm and then the actual rodeo will kick off at 7pm. The events will include: bareback bronc riding, saddle bronc riding, calf roping, ladies barrel racing, breakaway roping, pole bending, mutton busting for the kids, and bull riding. Check it out!
Today was the High Country’s reminder that the lifts will be running soon. Most of the Valley woke up to a nice dusting on the Continental Divide.
Although the amount of motocyclists that came into town was lower than expected, business owners see the event as having serious potential. The turn out was acutally pretty good for it’s first year not being held in Cripple Creek where it had been previously and once the word has spread hopefully the numbers will grow. August 17-19 bring your bikes and join in on the amazing events taking place in Winter Park and the Fraser Valley. More than 40,000 motorcyclists are to be expected this weekend and it will be quite a show! Also the Vietnam Memorial Wall, 400 foot long, 4/5 scale replica, will be at the Fraser Ball Feilds all weekend. For more info on this exciting weekend click here .
